Feed invited to present our research at Parenting Culture and Feeding Babies symposium

Dr Erin Williams was invited to present our research at the Centre for Parenting Culture Studies (CPCS) event ‘Parenting culture and feeding babies: a one-day symposium’.

This event provided an opportunity to discuss what has (and has not) changed in research around feeding babies, the associated public conversation, and the future of research, 20 years on from the research that initially gave rise to the idea of a Centre dedicated to studying ‘Parenting Culture’.

Erin’s presentation focused on the disconnect between policy and the reality that Mother face, and highlighted the importance of taking an ‘inside out’ approach to policy developemnt, where the mother an dbaby are placed at the centre, as is Feed’s ethos. When organisations take an ‘outside in’ approach, the result is often policy that does not meet the needs of the end user, and creates tension between stakeholder, as our reseach has shown.
