FMQ’s: First Minister responds to question on formula provision at food and baby banks

In First Minister’s Questions on January 23rd 2020, MSP Bob Doris asked First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to clarify the policy position on infant formula provision by baby and food banks to ensure smooth and timely access to support for formula feeding families. Bob asked the question in relation to the ban on Health Visitor referrals to Glasgow North Baby Foodbank by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The First Minister responded

I will ask the Health Minister to enage with [Greater Glasgow and Clyde] Health Board so that we can help with interpretation of UNICEF guidance and also encourage a pragmatic approach regarding the provision of sustenance for infants, which is so important.

MSP Bob Doris speaks to the fantastic work of the volunteers at Glasgow North Baby Hub and asks the Scottish Government to provide clarity on guidelines for the provision of infant formula to vulnerable families, to ensure they can get the vital support they need.
